Legendary Mr Lukas started with Quarter horses, before switching to Thoroughbreds. He’s called “The Coach”

1/23/24; The Voting is In…For the 2024 Fanduel Racing / NTRA Moment of the Year. The Winner is Seize the Grey! Well, he did have the benefit of a few thousand voters. BTW, Horse of the Year and 3yo Filly Champion was Thorpedo Anna. 3yo Male Champion was Sierra Leone. Seize received a modest 1 first place vote.

The Excitement started after his 2nd win at Oaklawn Park on 2/24/24, after a brief break from racing. His first win at 2-turns at 1 1/16m. He then followed it with 2 losses against stakes company, finishing 3rd and 7th. He then won the Pat Day Stakes G2, a 1-turn mile at Churchill Downs, on Kentucky Derby Day. Although an “undercard” race, it gave reasons to dream. He didn’t qualify for the Derby per not enough points, so his trainer felt it was best to run in the Pat Day. Seize then followed up with the unthinkable, by winning the Preakness Stakes G1. The 2nd Leg of the Triple Crown Series. Mr Lukas became the oldest trainer at 88yo to win that race.

2024, had a very strong group of 3yo colts. The top 3 finishers in the Breeders Cup Classic, were All 3yo’s. Sierra Leone, Fierceness and Forever Young.

12/2/24; It’s reported that broodmare Goodnight Olive is scheduled to be bred to Seize. She was a sales co-topper at $6M and the Champion Sprinter of 2022 and ’23. She was earlier bred to Not This Time.
